2023 Draft - 3 year Review

The 49ers sent pick 4.22 to Washington for SE Caldwell and then during the 2nd round sent 2.22 and 3.23 to San Diego for 2.14 and 6.19

1.23 LCB Richard Lyle 23/68 Post 28/58 Current 46/46
Lyle started 9 of 16 games in 2023 allowing 29 catches, defending 5 and picking off 1 (9 return yards) as he had a PDPct 76.7. He made 38 solo tackles and 18 assists, while adding a further 19 tackles on special teams. In the playoff game he defended 1 pass and allowed 1 catch (PDPct 87.5) and made 1 solo tackle and 1 special teams tackle.
He started 4 of 16 games in 2024 allowing 31 catches, defending 1 and picking off 2 (21 return yards), to record a PDPct 74.0. He made 39 solo tackles and 15 assists, while only adding 1 ST tackle but did recover a fumble. In 2025 he started 7 of 16 games defending 6 passes while allowing 21 catches (PDPct 78.7). He made 36 solo tackles, 16 assists, forced 2 fumbles, recovering 1 for a TD. He has not had the impacted expected but he is still on the roster and playing.

2.14 SE Javier Ater 23/37 Post 26/39 Current 37/37
He was active for 7 games in his rookie season catching 9 passes (60%) for 87 yards (2 drops). He started the 1 playoff game catching 5 passes (83.3%) for 61 yards, fumbling once but recovering it. In 2024 he started 4 of the 16 games he was active, catching 43 passes (54.4%) for 537 yards and 1 TD (1 drop), he also rushed twice for 14 yards. In addition he made 4 tackle on special teams. 2025 saw him start 4 of 12 games, his catches dropped to 21 (51.2%) for 228 yards and 1 TD (2 drops). He did see more special team’s action as he made 7 tackles. This pick has to be regarded as a disappointment.

5.23 RB Darrin Gaylor 22/31 Post 22/25 Current 24/24
He was active for all 16 games in his rookie season rushing for 345 yards at a 3.75 avg and 2 TD’s. He added 5 catches (83.3%) for 36 yards and another TD but did fumble once. He also ran the ball 6 times for 37 yards in the playoff loss. In 2024 he was only active for 1 games rushing 12 times for 20 yards, while 2025 saw him play in 3 games rushing 11 times for 110 yards, including a 52 yard run. However he was released in preseason prior to the 2026 season.

6.19 QB Diego Hitchcock 6/50 Post 12/51 Current 34/51
He was not active during his rookie season and was only active for 1 game in 2024 where he completed 15 of 16 passes for 217 yards and 1 TD to record a 139.6 rating. He also rushed 6 times for 35 yards in the game against Arizona. That made the team look hard at him and he started 5 of the 6 games he was active in 2025 passing for 1043 yards, 5 TD’s and 8 INT’s as he completed 64.4% of his passes for a 74.1 rating. He also rushed for 110 yards on 24 carries and ran for 2 TD’s going 4-1 as a starter. This resulted in him being handed the starting role in 2026.

6.22 SLB Bucky Hannam 17/32 Post 19/26 Current 19/26
With the improvements shown by Barrett and Whorton as well as some FA ILB signings there was no roster spot available for Hannam so he was cut prior to preseason 5.

7.23 FB Colin Wicks 27/41 Post 29/38 Current 37/37
Wicks was active for 5 games in his rookie season as he caught both passes thrown to him for 35 yards while recording 1 KRB (100%) and making 2 special teams tackles. 2024 saw him active for another 5 games but the only meaningful action was on special teams where he made 3 tackles. His 3rd season saw a breakthrough as he started 5 of the 15 games he was active rushing for 24 yards (1.41 avg), catching 3 passes (75%) for 20 yards (1 drop) and recording 4 KRB’s (33.3%). On special teams he made 8 tackles forcing 1 fumble. He was good enough to be named the starter going into 2026.

2024 - 3 year draft review

The 49ers sent their 1st round pick to Detroit during the 2023 season for QB Bridge.

2.22 RDE Kevin Dodd 25/43 Post 28/44 Current 33/33
Dodd has been active for all 48 games in his first 3 seasons, though he only started 1 game as a rookie as he made 14 solo tackles, 6 assists, recorded 1 sack, 9 hurries and 3 blocked passes while allowing 2 catches. He started 3 games in 2025 as he recorded 3 sacks and 7 hurries with 2 blocked passes. He added 23 solo tackles and 18 assists forcing 2 fumbles while defending 1 passes (allowing 2 catches). He made it to 4 starts in 2026 but saw a drop in numbers as he made 14 solo tackles, 16 assists, 1.5 sacks, and 1 blocked pass. He did increase hurries caused as he made 9 and also had a QB knockdown while he only allowed one catch. He was cut before the 2027 regular season so could be considered a letdown as a 2nd round selection.

3.23 LG Anthony Fabiano 13/49 Post 17/49 Current 37/43
He was active all 16 games in his rookie season making it onto the field for 18 pass plays and 4 running ones, where he failed to make the most of his one KRO. He started 2 of 9 games active in his 2nd season as he recorded 1 KRB (8.3%), despite the disappointments he started 5 of 13 games in 2026 as he recorded 7 KRB’s (25%) though he did allow his first sack. He also added 2 ST tackles.

4.22 FL Mike Thomas 22/45 Post 25/45 Current 45/45
Thomas has been active for all 48 games in his first 3 years. He started 4 in his rookie season making 27 catches (50%) for 281 yards and 1 TD (3 drops), he also rushed once for 3 yards though hid fumble twice. In his 2nd season he started 7 games making 59 catches (59.6%) for 671 yards and 5 TD’s, however he had 5 drops and also fumbled 3 times. 2026 saw him start 7 games again however he only caught 25 passes (51%) for 373 yards and 4 TD’s. He was more secure though as he only dropped 1 pass and didn’t fumble any. As a 4th round selection he has had decent production and he is always a deep threat.

5.23 NT Trevon Coley 20/25 Post 20/26 Current 22/22
Coley started 4 of 15 games he was active in 2024 as he made 20 solo tackles, added 14 assists, recorded 2.5 sacks, 9 hurries, 1 QB knockdown and 1 blocked pass, he did however allow 5 catches. His 2nd season saw him active for all 16 games, starting 7 as he made 33 solo tackles, 14 assists, 4 sacks, 7 hurries, 2 QB knockdowns and blocking 5 passes. He also recovered a fumble which he returned for a TD. He did allow 5 more catches! In 2026 he started 7 games again despite only being active for 13 games. He made 11 solo tackles and 5 assists, while only recording 1 sack and 1 hurry, and allowing 1 catch. For a 5th round pick Coley has provided some pass rush but his time on the roster is under threat.

6.11 QB Jacoby Brissett 13/36 Post 16/35 Current 22/35
He was active all 16 games in his rookie season but did not see the field, he was cut prior to the 2025 season as part of the final 53 man cut down due to the team having 5 QB’s on the roster.

7.23 LG Kyle Friend 21/40 Post 24/42 Current 43/43
Despite being taken 4 rounds later than Fabiano (3rd round), Friend has seen more action and been somewhat more successful, as he started 10 of 16 games active in his rookie season making 11 KRB’s (26.2%) while allowing 3 sacks (1%) and recovering a fumble. He started all 14 games he was active in 2025 as he added 14 KRB’s (23.7%) though he allowed 5 more sacks (1.1%). He then started 11 of 11 games active in 2026 as he added 17 KRB’s (34.7%) while reducing the number of sacks allowed to 3 (0.9%) before he had a serious hamstring injury.

2025 - 3 year draft review

The 49ers sent a 2026 5th to New England for pick 5.26

1.10 RT Harris Springer 28/74 Post 34/71 Current 69/69
He started the 12 games he was active in his rookie season making 16 KRB’s (37.2%) while allowing 1 sack, a knee injury ending his season. Unfortunately injuries have had a real impact on Springer’s career so far has he started (and played) only 6 games in 2026 making 3 KRB’s (25%) before a clavicle injury ended his season. 2027 was no better with an elbow injury in week 1 and a shoulder injury in week 13 ensuing he started 5 of the 6 games he was active as he made 5 KRB’s (31.3%) while allowing 2 sacks. For a 1st round pick he has when healthy looked like a decent player but injuries have so far badly impacted his career.

2.9 LCB Zane Martin 14/49 Post 15/26 Current 15/26
Martin was a massive disappointment and the team decided to cut their losses before preseason week 3.

3.8 LDE Sebastian Fisk 21/39 Post 21/27 Current 21/27
Cut as part of the final 53 cut down, liked his pass rush ability but he didn’t offer enough to stay on the roster.

4.11 QB Corey Turner 16/41 Post 21/39 Current 28/40
Has not seen any action in 3 seasons other than on special team as he was active in 13 games his rookie season, 12 in 2026 and 10 in 2027. In total he has been on the field for 88 ST plays as the kick holder.

5.10 LDT Gregory Twisp 19/29 Post 16/19 Current 17/19
Cut as part of the final 53 cut down, liked his pass rush ability but he didn’t offer enough to stay on the roster.

5.26 P Dexter Moronkola 64/66 Post xx/xx Current 70/70
He was not active for any of his rookie season but became the 49ers punter in 2026 where on 87 punts he averaged 47.6 gross and 39.3 net with a long of 72 yards and 39 inside the 20. He was even better in 2027 as on 95 punts he averaged 48.3 gross, 40.7 net with a long of 73 yards and 43 inside the 20 all proving that he was a quality selection late in the 5th round.

6.9 RB Winston Sanderson 23/40 Post 24/32 Current 30/31
Sanderson was active for 13 games in his rookie season rushing for 166 yards at a 2.63 avg and 3 TD’s. He added 4 catches (80%) for 29 yards, he fumbled once but recovered it and also made 3 tackles on ST. After a disappointing rookie season he was only active for 6 games in 2026 only seeing action on ST where he recovered a fumble. 2027 saw him active for 10 games rushing for 151 yards (avg 3.6) and catch 5 passes (62.5%) for 40 yards and a TD, he did drop 2 passes and fumbled once.

7.8 SLB Freddie Cerny 13/32 Post 15/30 Current 15/30
Cut as part of the final 53 cut down, simply was a number game and he wasn’t good enough to justify a spot.

2026 - 3 year draft review

In 2025 the 49ers sent this year’s 5th to New England for pick 5.26.
Pick 2.18 was picked up from the Jets for 2027 2nd and 4th round picks.

1.18 LDE Herb Barnes Name 48/64 Post 54/78 Current 77/77
Played and started 10 games in his rookie season recording 3 sacks, 4 hurries and 2 blocked passes. He made 19 solo tackles and 12 assists while allowing 5 catches. He started all 16 games in 2027 as he made 47 solo tackles and added 18 assists, he recorded 8.5 sacks, 15 hurries, 1 QB knockdown and blocked 2 more passes. He forced 5 fumbles, recovered 3 and returned 1 for a TD. In pass defense he broke up one pass while allowing 6 catches. He only started 5 of 16 games in his 3rd season as he made 36 solo tackles and 10 assists. He was a quality pass rusher as he recorded 8 sacks and 28 hurries with 11 QB knockdowns and 9 blocked passes, though he only forced 1 fumble and allowed 5 catches. He has been a quality pick and has the potential to become a major star in this league.

2.17 LCB Aiden Sanford 22/47 Post 23/39 Current 31/31
He started 10 of 16 games in 2026 picking off 2 passes (23 return yards) and defending 3 others while allowing 33 catches (PDPct 76.2). he made 44 solo tackles and 13 assists, recovered three fumbles and returned 25 punts of a 7.2 avg with one fumble, he also added 2 tackles on ST His 2nd season saw him start 4 of 13 games defending 2 passes and allowing 5 catches (PDPct 81.2) while making 11 solo tackles and 2 assists. He returned 14 punts at a 5.8 avg fumbling once. He did make 2 ST tackles as well. 2028 saw him active for 12 games where he allowed 2 catches, made 5 solo tackles and blocked a pass. Sanford has not lived up to a 2nd round billing as has to be considered a bust.

2.18 SE Timothy Bridges 35/59 Post 41/65 Current 65/65
He started 10 of 12 games in 2026 as he caught 57 passes (69.5%) for 642 yards and 2 TD’s. He also rushed 3 times for 6 yards. 2027 saw him start 8 of 12 games and only catch 30 passes (57.7%) for 431 yards and a TD (4 drops), there may have been concern but he had a breakout season in 2028 as he started all 16 games catching 78 passes (60%) for 954 yards and 7 TD’s though he did drop 9 passes and fumbled once. He is the top receiver in San Francisco and much is expected of him going forward if he can avoid injuries.

3.16 QB Jackie Newton 11/46 Post 14/38 Current 25/37
Not active for any games in his first 3 season.

4.15 WILB J.R Meadows 15/43 Post 17/38 Current 29/29
He was active for 5 games in his rookie season but only on the field for 21 plays. He was active for 2 games in 2027 but did not get on the field, however in 2028 he started 3 of 8 games making 25 solo tackles and 5 assists. He did allow 9 catches (PDPct 69.8%) while forcing and recovering a fumble. He was released week one of the 2029 preseason

6.19 SLB Salvador Wielechowski 16/39 Post xx/xx Current xx/xx
Release in the cut down to 60 as he had a poor training camp (18/26)

7.18 SS D.J Fisk 16/42 Post 16/29 Current 16/30
Was the last cut as the team had to get down to the final 53 man roster.

2027 - 3 year draft review

2nd and 4th round picks were sent to the Jets during the 2026 draft for pick 2.18

1.18 TE Lance Heney 42/68 Post 49/72 Current 72/72
Heney started 14 of 16 games in his rookie season catching 51 passes (56.7%) for 566 yards and 1 TD (2 drops), he fumbled once, recovered one, caught one 2 point conversion and made 11 ST tackles. As a blocker he recorded 4 KRB’s (33.3%) while allowing 2 sacks. 2028 saw him again start 14 of 16 games but he jumped up production wise as he caught 88 passes (65.2%) for 1026 yards and 8 TD’s (3 drops). He recovered two fumbles and made 18 ST tackles, forcing one fumble while adding 2 KRB’s (22.2%). In his 3rd season he didn’t record a KRB in 3 opportunities but then he was running routes most of the time as he caught 96 passes (68.1%) for 1519 yards and 11 TD’s (7 drops). He did fumble once, but also added another 18 ST tackles and a 2 point conversion. He has been All League 1st Team TE twice (2028 and 2029) and is already 3rd all time on the 49ers for 100 yard receiving games!

3.18 LG Myron Terry 32/61 Post 39/63 Current 64/64
Terry started all 14 games in played in during his rookie season recording 22 KRB’s (40.7%) while allowing 3 sacks. He recovered 2 fumbles and made 3 ST tackles. In the 2028 season he started 12 of 13 games making 21 KRB’s (33.3%), again allowing 3 sacks, this time making 2 ST tackles. In 2029 he made 17 KRB’s (23.3%) and allowed 3 sacks, recovered a fumble and made 2 ST tackles. He has proven to be a decent pick but diminishing returns each season in KRB’s has been disappointing, though for a mid 3rd round pick the team have to be happy with the value.

5.18 FL Teddy Arnold 24/40 Post 25/34 Current xx/xx
He was cut before the regular season started. Picked up by Buffalo he started 4 of 10 games making 38 catches for 365 yards and 4 TD's (5 drops)and rushing for 29 yards on 5 carries, however he didn't make their 2029 roster.

6.19 LT Darrell Wagner 20/42 Post 22/35 Current xx/xx
Released in week 6 of his rookie season due to injuries in other positions without ever being active. He was picked up by New Orleans starting 6 games making 3 KRB's (33.3%) but did allow 3 sacks (1.0%). In the playoffs he started 2 games making 1 KRB (20%). He signed a two year deal for the Saints but was released and picked up by Denver where he started 2 games making 1 KRB (16.7%). In 2029 he went back to New Orleans starting 3 of 14 games as he made 2 KRB's (28.6%) while allowing 2 sacks (1.8%).

7.18 C Tito Shannon 17/48 Post 22/43 Current 42/42
H started both games he was active for in his rookie season making 5 KRB’s (35.7%) while not allowing a sack. In 2028 he started 5 of the 8 games he was active as he made 4 KRB’s (23.5%) while allowing 1 sack. In 2029 he started all 15 games he was active as he recorded 14 KRB’s (21.9%) while allowing 3 sacks. He has proven to be a quality 7th round pick with plenty of playing time and reasonably decent performances.

2028 - 3 year draft review

Picks 5.6 and 7.9 were sent to Dallas for WLB Kyle Erman

1.5 LT Ryan Ramczyk 35/83 Post 41/84 Current 80/80
He started all 12 games he was active in his rookie season suffering an elbow injury to curtail his season. He recorded 13 KRB’s (32.5%) while allowing 6 sacks and making 1 ST tackle. He started the 14 games he was active in 2029 as he made 15 KRB’s (24.2%) while allowing 5 sacks and making 3 ST tackles. His 3rd season he started the 15 games he was active as he made a jump up as a run blocker with 28 KRB’s (37.8%) and a pancake, while seeing his sacks allowed drop to 3 (0.6%) as he started to justify his high ratings and draft position.

2.9 LCB Gareon Conley 41/63 Post 43/52 Current 53/53
Conley started all 16 games in 2028 defending 7 passes and picking 1 off while allowing 27 catches (PDPct 80.1). He made 47 solo tackles and added 14 assists. In 2029 he missed time due to injury but started all 12 games he was active making 40 solo tackles and 16 assists while adding a sack and hurry. In coverage he defended 5 passes while allowing 24 catches for a PDPct of 77.8. Conley started all 16 games in 2030 as he defended 7 passes, picked off one (13 return yards) as he allowed 24 catches (PDPct 80.8). He made 39 solo tackles and added 20 assists, forcing a hurry and 2 fumbles. He looks like a good value 2nd round selection.

3.8 C Pocic 32/57 Post 37/53 Current 50/50
He started 2 of the 4 games he was active in 2028 as he made 2 KRB’s (18.2%) while allowing 1 sack. He lost the inside track in 2029 as he started the 1 game he was active, not making a KRB in 3 opportunities. Pocic started 2 of 4 games in 2030 as he failed to make a single KRB with his 7 opportunities. He didn’t allow a sack and also recovered a fumble. A high rating has not been backed up by performances though he has had limited opportunities.

4.7 NT Vincent Taylor 27/58 Post 30/48 Current 44/44
Taylor start 8 of 16 games in his rookie campaign as he made 24 solo tackles, added 10 assists, recorded 1.5 sacks, 5 hurries, 1 QB knockdown and blocked 4 passes. He did allow 3 catches as well. 2029 was similar as he started 7 of the 16 games making 24 solo tackles again, however he added 14 assists, recorded 3.5 sacks, added 7 hurries, 1 QB knockdown and another 4 blocked passes while forcing a fumble (allowing 3 catches as well). In 2030 Taylor started 10 of 14 games making 22 solo tackles, adding 12 assists, 1.5 sacks and 5 hurries, though he did allow 4 catches! He is a solid player but no more than a rotational player on the DL.

6.5 RB Justin Davis 25/38 Post 26/36 Current 37/37
He started 1 of 5 games he was active in his rookie season rushing for 82 yards on 33 carries (2.48 avg) and 2 TD’s. He made 10 catches (66.7%) for 173 yards and 2 TD’s (1 drop) he also made 1 ST tackle. Despite rookie struggles he started 13 of 16 games in 2029 rushing for 546 yards on 216 carries (2.53 avg) and 2 TD’s. He caught 36 passes (85.7%) for 279 yards and 2 TD’s (1 drop) but did fumble 4 times and allow a sack. He made 2 ST tackles forcing a fumble. In 2030 he was active for all 16 games but only started 3 as he rushed for 527 yards (4.18 avg) finding the endzone 4 times. He caught 35 passes (79.5%) for 306 yards and another TD, dropping 2 passes. He did fumble twice during the season while making 1 ST tackle.

2029 - 3 year draft review

1.19 QB Gage Blick 31/70 Post 38/68 Current 50/54
Gage started 3 of 5 games that he was active in his rookie season completing 77 of 120 passes (64.2%0 for 932 yards, 4 TD’s and 5 INT’s for a passer rating of 81.7. He rushed 4 times for 32 yards, was sacked 4 times, fumbling twice, going 1-2 as a starter. Blick had a poor TC and as a result was only active for 1 game where he lost a yard on one run. In 2031 he started 2 of 5 games losing both as he completed 34 of 59 passes (57.6%) for 405 yards and 2 TD’s, 3 INT’s for a passer rating of 68.8. He rushed 3 times for 22 yards (7.33 avg) and so far has been a big disappointment in San Francisco.

2.19 MLB C.J Sellers 18/63 Post 21/54 Current 51/51
He was active for 10 games in his rookie season but was only on the field for 1 pass play. He started 5 of 16 games in 2030 making 49 solo tackles and 13 assists, forced a fumble and made 17 ST tackles as well. In coverage he defended 4 passes while allowing 17 catches (PDPct 72.9). He was more impressive again in his 3rd season making 99 solo tackles and adding 27 assists, blocking 2 passes, causing hurry and knocking down the QB once. In coverage he defended one pass but also picked one off (13 return yards) while allowing 30 catches (PDPct 73.7) though he recovered a fumble as well. He has been a good solid pick in the 2nd round.

3.19 RDE Efrain Carr 29/65 Post 33/56 Current 58/58
Carr started all 16 games in his rookie season making 30 solo tackles and adding 13 assists while recording ½ sack while forcing 14 hurries and blocking 1 pass. He defended 1 pass while allowing 2 catches in pass coverage. He started all 16 games in 2030 getting 3 sacks, blocking 9 passes, forcing 16 hurries and knocking down the QB 3 times. He made 45 solo tackles and added another13 hurries, forced a fumble and defended a pass. He did allow 9 catches to record a PDPct of 80.5. In 2031 he started all 16 games again added 6 more sacks, 20 hurries and 4 QB knockdowns to his career totals. He blocked 3 passes, made 31 solo tackles, added 17 assists and forced another fumble. In coverage he defended two passes while allowing 2 catches. He has been an excellent player and has proven himself to be an excellent 3rd round pick.

4.19 RB Herb Rowell 27/43 Post 27/34 Current 27/34
Cut as part of the final 53 man roster cuts.
